Memorial Day Weekend: CQB Carbine Course

M1A, Sig 556R

What better way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend than with your friends in a CQB Carbine course!

I got to test out my factory fresh Sig 556R with my newly created AK 47 Kydex mag pouches and everything worked great!

There were about 22 students total all of the using AR15's of some kind or another except me, using the Sig 556R, and Vlad sporting a M1A.

No piston AR's that I noticed either.

One person was using a .300 AAC Blackout upper and his own reloads. He had a couple malfunctions but not too bad over all.

Jeff Patane of Alpha Dog Tactical was the instructor for the course which he packed full of information and delivered it at a fast pace.

By the end we were entering houses and clearing rooms in 4 man teams. It was extremely fun and the day went by way to fast for me.

The "house" was a taped off floor plan that illustrated all the various situations that would be encountered in a house. For example a four way hallway intersection, "T" hallways rooms with doors to hallways and more.

We were taught how to "stack" at a door, one sided and two sided, how to  communicate with other teams members and what to communicate. How to handle your firearm when in close proximity to others. We learned the "three meter" rule of engagement regarding how far you can safely engage a threat with respect to the distance from your teammates.

Just a lot!

Happy Memorial Day!
